Copyright law and Tshirt Design

Today we had a Cybersmart lesson where we learned about copyright law. You can’t just use other people images without permission. If you use free-to-use images you still need to attribute them. The best way is to draw your own images, because then you can use them for anything you like.

Here are 3 t shirt designs that I did.

BIDMAS

Today in Maths I did bid mas, to remember the order that I need to do my mathematical calculations. Bid mas helped me to remember what comes first, second, third and fourth. I did bid mas because it’s a subject I haven’t done in a long time, bid mas helped me to remember the combinations and the pattern.

Embedding our learning

Embedding learning into our Blogs

By Iosefo

There are lots of different types of digital learning objects we embed into our blogs on a daily basis.

My favorite thing to share on my blog is Google Slides

The easiest learning to share is my writing in Google Docs, simply just Copy and Paste it from the Google Doc onto your blog. However, don’t forget to use CTRL + SHIFT + V so that it gets rid of the formatting. You can always change the formatting on your blog.

Take a look at the other ways below

Enviro Team

Yesterday Frazier visited our school and sent us on a mission to clean our school. We were hard working gardeners that were working together. The seniors had to pair up with the juniors so they can experience how to garden. I enjoyed gardening with my partner because we did challenges that were exciting for the little kids, we basically cleaned the whole area down the bottom which took us and hour to do. We got spades and replanted some fresh new donated plants. We all enjoyed planting and pulling out all the weeds.

Tongan Language Week

September 9th 2022 the Pacifica group performed a performance on Friday. The boys did a fantastic job at doing the Sipi Tau. The girls performed a dance that included the boys, hands down the best. The parents enjoyed the show the Pacifica group put a lot of hard work into for weeks. Thanks to Mrs Eric and Mrs Folu for getting all the stuff organised and for hosting the show. We all enjoyed the show and we mostly enjoyed all the money and chocolate that was given to the children. We also enjoyed the screaming and cheering that was happening during the performances.

Volleyball Tournament

Yesterday on Wednesday the 9th of June the year 7&8 went to the Barfoot and Thompson stadium at Kohimarama near Selwyn College. The year 7&8 had two teams of 8 players, one of the teams where called Aces and the other team was called rebels. I think the Aces had 3 wins and 4 losses.  We had a very good game and I think we played very well. We tried our best to get all the victories but at the end we just had fun, The year 7&8 made some friends on the way there and we had the time of our life. This is a photo of the Aces playing their game against a good competitive game.

We had a good game against a good school and I think we played well. But I think the Aces needed to work on some skills.

Pacifica Group

Today the pacifica group performed a Siva Samoa for Samoan Language. We had like a week to practise our performance and It went very well. Mrs Erick lead our group to a victory. I liked this  performance because I got to share my culture. Our assembly was definitely a 10/10. I learnt a lot of other things in my Samoan culture and we did a lot of Samoan Research during this week. Our victory today was our singing because we only had 5 days to practice our Samoan National Anthem. The funniest thing during the assembly was the Humpty Dumpty show from Room 5. This assembly was very interesting because just because I’m Samoan I still learnt a lot. Thank you to Mrs Erick for leading our Pacifica group and for bringing equipments for our performance.

Not only did I enjoy this but I learnt things during this assembly. Thank you Mrs Erick for making our performance a success

UPDATE ON MY WEEK

Yesterday on Thursday the year 5-8 went on a trip to the local areas in our community. Matua Harley the person that told us about Maori history around Glen Innes took us to a place called Karaka Bay. He didn’t take us in because the bus driver had to go do other work, but he told us that 16 Chiefs from different tribes signed the Maori treaty. I really enjoyed this trip and a big thank you to Matua Harley for taking us around the local areas around Glen Innes and telling us about these Maori stories.

We also went up Mt Wellington and Matua Harley told us about what happened there and how it happened. I really looked forward to going to this trip and I actually got to go. This was a big opportunity for us because, we got to learn about our local area. I really enjoyed this because not only I got go, but all my friends went. Thank you Matua Harley.

Football

On Wednesday some of Room 1 went to a Tamaki soccer tournament. This soccer tournament is important to me because this helps me to make friends with other students from different schools. Something I like about this tournament was that Ruapotaka School went their to represent their school and show that they are responsible. I liked how the year 7&8 boys tried their best to win a game, but at the end of the day we all had fun. I am sharing this because I want other schools to read what went well and what didn’t.

Our coach aka our teacher Mr Nevalagi, coached the year 7&8 boys. He did a very good job at coaching us. We played at Madills Farms, Kohimarama, the person that set up the whole soccer tournament was steven from the ESFC, Eastern suburbs Football club. The school that was a challenge to us was Stone field school.

POEM

JUNE 30th 1918

MY DEAREST KATE

Stinking hot days and nights. I am in the trenches waiting for darkness. There are human bones all around me. The human bones are poking against my side. Now I have entered the NO MANS LAND. I am crawling to the deepest end to get a good point of view. We go quickly. We go quietly. The bob wires are a curse. We curl up and pray so we don’t be body targets. Terrifying times.

Write To You Soon.

Your lovely father.

In today’s writing Room 1 had to use simple sentences for our poem. I hoped you enjoyed reading this poem.
